Parameters of your system

PostgreSQL version (find out via 'SELECT version();')
Operating system of the PostgreSQL server host
Choose the type closest to the main workload of the database:
Web application: many short, simple queries, mostly reads
Online transaction processing system: many concurrent short transactions with frequent writes
Data warehouse: few long analytical queries over large amounts of data, bulk data loads
Desktop application: PostgreSQL shares the computer with other programs and uses little memory
Mixed type of application: both short transactions and heavy analytical queries
How much memory can PostgreSQL use
For containers use the container memory limit
Number of CPUs, which PostgreSQL can use
CPUs = threads per core * cores per socket * sockets
If empty, parallel query settings are not changed
Maximum number of PostgreSQL client connections
If empty, assumed by DB type and memory (min 100)
Type of data storage device
Estimated total size of your database compared to total server RAM

Provide basic information about the hardware, where PostgreSQL database is running. The configuration is generated as soon as required fields are filled in

Choosing "DB Type"

Choose the type closest to the main workload of the database. Database size is set separately in "Total Data Size"

Web application
many short, simple queries, mostly reads. Examples: websites, APIs, SaaS backends
Online transaction processing system
many concurrent short transactions with frequent writes. Examples: payments, orders, bookings, inventory
Data warehouse
few long analytical queries over large amounts of data, bulk data loads. Examples: reporting, analytics, business intelligence
Desktop application
PostgreSQL shares the computer with other programs and uses little memory. Examples: developer workstation, local or test database, desktop application
Mixed type of application
both short transactions and heavy analytical queries. Examples: application, which also runs reports on the same database
